Journaling Prompts for Covid-19 Times

Even if we feel we are handling these unusual times well, they may still be taking a toll on us.

I noticed that I’ve been a little more nervous and jumpy even though my thoughts are mostly positive. My comfort zone seems to be shrinking as my life gets smaller and smaller. You may be noticing something similar or completely different, but I feel sure it’s impacting you too.

What I have learned over the years is to not fight the symptoms, but love and respect them since fighting only makes them stronger. Be gentle with yourself. Ask your symptoms what they need. And stay in your present moments instead of worrying about what might come.

One of the tools I recommend often is journaling. It can help you get things out of your head, figure them out, and even find peace and meaning in stressful times. I am using my journal to support me in feeling more present and grounded as I process my thoughts and feelings.

Here are some of the journaling prompts I am currently recommending to bring meaning to these Covid-19 times:

  • How do I want to show up?
  • Who do I want to become?
  • The hardest part for me is ______ and I can make it better by ______.
  • What am I learning about myself?
  • What am I learning about the world?
  • How can I become more resilient and resourceful?
  • Who do I want to reach out to? Why? How?
  • I am proud of myself because ______.
  • How can I use this time wisely?
  • My intention for today is ______.
  • I now appreciate ______.
  • I’ve come to believe ______.
  • How can I make a difference?
  • When this is over I will be happy that I ______.
  • What is the best thing for me to do next?
  • I am grateful for ______.

I hope these prompts support you as well as they have my clients and myself. They are designed to foster listening to your heart, living intentionally, and maintaining a positive outlook, all powerful gifts to give yourself.

I think that I will try these ideas. Having such a small world has been challenging, but taking an imaginary journey around the world in my blog has been a big help to me.
