Feeling Called to a Simpler Life

It often starts as a small voice and then builds into a yearning for a simpler life and the peace it brings. I believe it’s the voice of your soul calling you away from worldly distractions and back into your heart.

You can try to avoid the calling or postpone taking action, but you will never be able to turn it off fully. It will be there until you make changes that realign your life with your heart’s desire.

Your heart is not interested in gathering more things to take care of or the extra work and debt they bring. It wants you to experience more:

  • Peace and contentment
  • Room to breathe
  • Financial security
  • Time with your loved ones
  • Freedom
  • Meaningful moments
  • Happiness
  • Physical energy
  • Sanctuary in your home

So, ask yourself – What would a more simple and meaningful life look like for me and how can I create it? I encourage you to spend some time with this question or journal about it. It could be life changing.

When you know what you want, start taking steps toward making it come true. There is no need to wait, because baby steps count and there are sure to be some you can take now.

I would love to hear about the life you would like to create, so please feel free to comment below.

And, if you would like coaching support in creating your peaceful, meaningful life, I would love to schedule a consultation with you to talk about how we can make that happen.

Being called to a simpler life seems like it would bring calm, but then having to deal with financial security seems to take the conversation in a different, more stressful/complicated direction. Particularly if one is not entirely financially secure when one hears the calling of simplicity. Perhaps your related post “finding your sweet spot” is the next one to read!

Kathleen: One of the gifts of a simple life is that you gain more financial security. You will want to spend less and when you do it will be on things you will really use and love. Many of my clients are shocked when they realize how much money they are spending on things that will feel meaningless a day or 2 later.

It’s not about living in scarcity, it’s about making way for what speaks to your heart. Less can be more in the long run. And, that often includes more money in the bank.
