Navigating Transitions and the Seasons of Life

transitions and transformations seasons of life life coach

As we enter the month of September, I am anticipating the transition from summer to fall. When I lived in California there was little evidence of seasons changing and I was not tuned into these cycles of nature. Now that I have moved to Missouri, I live by them.

I often view the seasons through the lens of how they impact my daily walks with my dog, Daisy. I might even rename them Rain, Humidity, Leaves and Ice. Our journey from flip flops to snow boots happens every year without fail and I am reminded of how I used to think the seasons were all 3 months long before I moved here. The reality is that some feel long and others seem to last only a few weeks.

I have grown to love living in a land of seasons. We have a lot of firsts. First snow of the year. First flowers after winter. First leaves that fall. And every seasonal transition brings its own form of hellos and goodbyes.

Life is like that too.

There are seasons and stages of life that each of us experience, starting with birth and ending with death. My family has several going on at once. One grandson just started college, another is expecting his first child, my son and daughter-in-law are on the edge of empty nesting and I will become a great grandma in the coming year. Whew! It feels like a lot.

Transitions like these can make us feel uncertain and uncomfortable. We may even find ourselves grieving as we say goodbye to the way things have been. It’s important to remember that when we leave one thing behind we make room for new blessings to appear.

Transitions are also full of possibilities and new awareness as we lean into the things that are calling to us and embrace what the new season of life will bring. We have another opportunity to re-create our lives and continue to refine who we are. This cycle of life phases is truly a gift that allows us to evolve into our best selves.

These changes in our lives can be humbling, scary and overwhelming at times, but they serve the purpose of helping us learn and change and grow. You will find them easier to move through if you remember that:

  • Life transitions are gifts, full of possibilities.
  • They are an opportunity to shed what no longer serves you.
  • When you let go of things, you create space for something new and better to come in.
  • If there is a change you know you need to make, the call to do it may become stronger.
  • This is a great time to follow a calling of your heart.
  • Many people change homes or careers to ones that feel more aligned during life transitions.
  • It is a great time to do some work around reconnecting with your authentic self.
  • Your journaling will probably become more deep and powerful.
  • It’s also a good time to seek the support of a Professional Life Coach (Contact me)

Resisting life transitions is futile (just like everything else). Embracing them and opening to what’s next can enhance and enrich your life in more ways than you can imagine.

I love supporting women during these times that seem scary but are rich with growth and opportunities. Being able to witness their journeys and help them reconnect with their authentic selves, discover their dreams and create lives they love is a true blessing.

Watching my clients move forward with intention and courage has reinforced my belief that all women are amazing.

Including you!

If you find yourself on the edge of something new, feeling overwhelmed or just needing support, you may want to consider working with a Life Coach. And, if you feel like we might be a good match I would love to talk to you. You can contact me here.

  1. It’s been a little more than a year since I retired, and I’m still adjusting. The luxury of having more time to devote to my passions is both wonderful and kind of scary. I am gradually allowing myself to create more fulfillment in my life. Also, there are so many things I want to pursue, it’s impossible to fit them all in. No worries. It’s an adventure.
