Yesterday I coached a client who was feeling great. She had recently completed a big project that helped someone in need and was quite energized by it. The little blips in life that could have upset her in the past just floated off her back. She felt energetic, strong, and proud of all she had done.
I shared with her that she was experiencing being grounded in her Best Self.
She agreed. She could feel it.
We talked about what brought her home to herself and brainstormed ideas for keeping the momentum going.
We talked about ways to anchor this feeling of being the best version of herself so she could re-connect with it in the future.
We talked about not wasting her time on worry that could disturb her peace and distract her from her ideal self.
And, we talked about adding a powerful question to her daily life:
What would my Best Self do?
Sometimes when I am coaching others, I am speaking to myself at the same time. And, I think that was the case yesterday.
Because this morning while journaling and planning my day, the question – What would my Best Self do? – came to mind.
It made everything crystal clear and my day was planned in about 30 seconds. It made it easy to set intentions and commit to what I wanted to do and how I wanted to feel when this day ends.
This question was a shortcut to my soul. It bypassed the thoughts and feelings that could have kept me stuck in indecision or waiting for motivation. My plans for the day feel easy to accomplish and I am looking forward to doing them. I won’t be sidetracked by unnecessary questions or moods. I am ready. I am committed. And, this is going to be a great day.
So, I’m wondering, what does your Best Self want you to know? How does she want you to live your day, resolve an issue, make a decision, or navigate thoughts and feelings that come up?
I suggest you ask her. She is there for you anytime you want. Listening to her leads to becoming her, and when that happens you will feel on top of the world!
If you would like support connecting with and being guided by your Best Self. I would love to talk to you about how we can work together to make that happen. It all starts with a free consultation. You can contact me here.

What a great question to ask ourselves. Thanks! I will be using this today!
I’m using it again today too. It’s so simple and really works.
This is a great questions to ask ourself every morning! I think sometimes we get so caughtup with daily things we forget about ourselves.
So true! We need to create lives that our meaningful to us, not everyone else.
Wonderful advice, and something I could (and will) use everyday. Thank you.
Glad to hear you like it and hope it helps your days go smoothly. BTW Thanks for tweeting this…
Powerful question we can ask to re-evaluate ourselves.
Such a simple but effective question. It cuts through all the crap of “to-do” that run our lives.
Definitely a valuable question! I like to use the version “What would I do right now if I’d already achieved the success I’m aiming for?” It encourages me to be more self-confident and sure of myself.
Your Best Self question sounds like it would be incredibly powerful for aspects of my life other than business, so I’m going to give it a go! Thank you so much for the inspiration.
I love your question too and can see how it can invoke confidence. Thank you for sharing it.
What a great question to ask ourselves and a perfect way to start a Monday morning.
Yes. Especially, at the start of the week. Or maybe, the start of anything…
I love the idea of thinking about our ‘best self’. It makes me feel like I want to actually make a better decision rather than rushing off half cocked. Thanks for the inspiration and I will be looking at my ‘best self’ much more for guidance. Have a beautiful day.
