When you experience challenges in your primary relationship it can impact all areas of your life, including the people around you. Building up resentment only makes you hyper-reactive and clouds your perspective.

So, when your relationship is feeling “off”, use these Principles for a Great Relationship to return to the foundation of love and partnership that will make your life feel blessed.

  • Be kind
  • Be honest
  • Listen deeply
  • Tell them you love them
  • Communicate clearly
  • Show your appreciation
  • Speak your truth in a loving way
  • Do what you say and say what you do
  • Be willing to compromise for the greater good
  • See the other person as the beautiful soul they truly are

Simple and to the point. However, relationships become so complex when we don’t practice these things. I am curious why sex isn’t a part of this. We are a species created to reproduce. We desire attachment.

  3. Elise Cohen Ho says:

Speak your truth in a loving way. Great advice! Share your thoughts, feelings and needs but also be kind.

    • Linda Luke says:

Elise: This is so important but not always easy to do. Sometimes my clients like to pick my brain for wording that speaks to their heart because I can be neutral when they feel triggered. Kindness is key in anything to do with relationships.

Super good advice. I think the book Daring Greatly has helped me so much in my relationships-lots of what you say here is echoed there!
