Many of us are staying home in cooperation with various quarantines and lockdowns due to Covid 19. This creates an unusual pause in our lives that we can fill in many ways.
Most people get restless after a few days of rest and watching Netflix. It’s an odd feeling to have a forced staycation. But, there are several meaningful ways that you can spend your time. Here are a few I’m recommending to my clients:
Learn something new: There are many opportunities for learning online and some businesses and schools are offering programs for free now. . There are endless opportunities for those who want to learn and grow.
Dave Ramsey is offering 14 day free access to his Financial Peace University courses. This is an incredible opportunity that could change your life.
Coursera offers online classes for skills, academics and career building. Some are accredited with top universities and can count toward a certificate or degree.
Creative Live is a great resource that focuses mostly on photography, art, and other fun things. It has expanded to include classes in health, money, mindset, business building and more.
Go Within: Being free of a busy schedule and worldly distractions can make it easier to connect with the voice of your heart. This may be the perfect time to focus on YOU, what you want, and write a new story for your life.
You may want to use this time to:
- Start a journal or deepen your practice if you already have one
- Write a vision for what you want your life to look like a year, 5 years, or 10 years from now. Once your vision is clear, you can start making it come true.
- Write letters of gratitude to those who have impacted your life. You may or may not want to mail them, that is up to you. Keep in mind that people don’t need to be alive for you to write to them. This exercise is sure to fill your heart.
- Practice meditation, prayer, or relaxation techniques
- Explore your ancestry
- Start writing a memoir or stories from your life
- Read something that lifts your spirits or connects with your soul
Unleash your creativity: It’s time to let your creative spirit come out to play. She may love art, writing, upcycling, decorating, photography, needle work, or just about anything. Creativity doesn’t need to be defined or put in a box. It’s about freedom and exploration and is a great way to connect to your heart and intuition. No judgement is allowed. We are all creative beings and everything we create is perfect in it’s own way.
If you are staying home, I encourage you to use this time intentionally to learn, create, or go within so that you can come out of it feeling rested, happy, and more confident. You will be glad you did.
