How to Stop a Spinning Mind

spinning mind monkey mind stress overwhelm negative thoughts

We have all experienced it. Spinning minds that seem to take control and make us feel a little crazy.

It could be about a decision you are trying to make.

Problem solving or ideas for something new

Replaying how someone hurt you or something that went wrong

Or, fear trying to stop you from moving forward.

You THINK your brain has the answers, even trust it sometimes to tell you what to do. But, the thoughts it feeds you are conflicting, telling you all the reasons you should say yes and then all the reasons you should say no.

This monkey mind experience leads to confusion, stress, procrastination, feeling stuck, and can leave you marinating in past hurts and stories.

There is nothing productive about it, but there is a way out.

Simply ask yourself: What do I know for sure?

When you are focused only on the truth you can think more clearly, make better decisions, and let old hurts fall away. The truth is always the best place to start.

Once you have the facts, go to your heart for the answers. That is where your most powerful wisdom lies.

Ask yourself: What does my heart want me to know?

Write it out if you can. You may be surprised what you learn.

This process not only minimizes a spinning mind, but is also a solid foundation for how to live every day.

Give it a try. You will be happy you did.
