3 Ways to Connect with Your Inner Wisdom

We all receive guidance from within. Whether you call it the voice of your heart, soul, or intuition, it is always there to support you.

There are times when you may find it difficult to connect with this inner wisdom or hear what it has to say. You can get caught up in your daily life or drama and rely on your inconsistent and fearful mind instead. It’s like letting a naughty toddler run the show.

It is possible to connect to the wisdom within no matter what is going on in your life. The first step is to pause and give yourself a break from the mental and external voices that are fighting for your attention. Pull back from the chaos, get quiet, and listen.

If the answers are not immediately there, I recommend these 3 ways to help you connect within. If the answers ARE already there, I still recommend using these methods to go even deeper. You will feel better if you do.

Meditation or Prayer – Taking time to be in silence or have a conversation with God is a powerful way to realign with your inner guidance and open to direction from a higher source.

Check in with Your Body – Your heart and soul will speak to you through your body.  If you are faced with a decision, try saying each option and see what your body tells you. Feeling tightness, contraction, or heaviness can be a sign you are on the wrong track. When you feel light and open, your body is likely signaling a “yes”.

Free Form Writing –  Putting pen to paper and letting it flow is a beautiful way to vent, clear things that are blocking you, and bring forward new answers. Free form writing is best done in a peaceful, quiet environment with pen and paper. Write whatever comes up, positive or negative, without thinking about or judging it. Let it flow out of you and onto the paper.

When you feel emptied out, I recommend asking for guidance or ending with something positive that will help you feel more confident and restored. If you have trouble getting started, you can ask yourself a question:

  • What does my heart want me to know?
  • What would I tell my best friend if she were facing this situation?
  • How do I want to show up?
  • What would my future self want me to do?
  • What should I do next?
  • What qualities and strengths do I have that will see me through this?
  • What is going right?
  • What am I grateful for?

Sometimes, life brings circumstances that seem to set us spinning out of control, but we are never far from the answers. They are already residing within.
