12 Morning Practices that Start Your Day Off Right

good morning

Every day is a gift.  A blank slate to write on. The choices you make in the first moments after waking up can impact your energy, effectiveness, and mood for the entire day.  I am a big fan of morning practices and encourage you to create one of your own.

Here are some fun ideas for starting your morning off right:

  • Wiggle your toes and smile
  • Snuggle with your pets or people
  • Stretch or do yoga
  • Express gratitude for the gift of another day
  • Enjoy spiritual time (journal, meditate, pray)
  • Set an intention for the day
  • Go outside and listen to nature
  • Read something motivational or uplifting
  • Visualize your day evolving with ease and grace
  • Say an affirmation, your core values, or a mantra that inspires you
  • Send loving energy out to the world and then direct it toward yourself
  • Listen to music and/or dance

What would you add to the list? Do you have a favorite morning practice already? I would love to hear what you have to say. You can share by commenting below.

  1. I battle with that time between waking up and getting up! I have a routine to read my Bible and pray but after that . . . the worst thing I can do is pick up my cellphone! Go for Google – #6 in ProBlogger Challenge

I agree Shirley. Cellphones (and social media) put us in the space of letting other people’s agendas control our time. And, before we know it, we are getting a late start to our day, creating more stress. Praying and reading the Bible are wonderful uplifting ways to start your day!

What a lovely post Linda! I already do some of the things listed but will definitely think about integrating the others! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Excellent – the only addition I would make would be care in dressing. When we look our best (and least according to our own self-image) we are more likely to say Affirmations with meaning, create intentions we intend to follow and meet the world head on.

Thank you Lauren. That is a great addition to the list! It is true that when we take care with our presentation (even if we will be at home all day) we feel better.

Wiggling my toes is one of my favorites and I do it before I am even out of bed. I also like foot massages and like to do mini ones when I put on lotion after a shower. It feels soooo good.
